be back in the classrooms today after reaching a deal with the school district to end the seven day teachers strike. members of the oakland education association voted to accept the contract from the school district. teachers lined up at the paramount theater to vote on the districts deal yesterday. the union e district have been negotiating for the past two years. teachers were demanding higher wagers, smaller class sizes and more resources. (robin) breaking overnight... at least 23 are dead after several tornadoes ripped through alabama and georgia over the weekend. this appears to be the deadliest day for tornadoes in the state since 20-11. several homes were damaged by the storm and rescue crews are helping with the search for people trapped inside the rubble. these tornadoes are linked to a system that could bring winter-like weather to much of the eastern part of the u-s this week. (robin) cracks have been discovered in the windows of another downtown san francisco high rise. this time... it is not the troubled millennium tower... but its next door neighbor - the salesforce tower. kron 4's first there were cracked exterior windows in the millennium tower, then cracked beams in the salesforce

transit center, and now two pieces of interior glass have cracked at the salesforce tower one on the 12th floor the other on the 14th.sot bill strawn/s.f. dept. of building inspection :16its not uncommon in tall buildings for windows have cracks and have to be replacedbill strawn with the san francisco department of building inspection says a reporter notified the city about the crack, and a building inspector has now been briefed by the property owner but the city is not conducting its own investigationsotwe wouldnt get invovled unless as a result of the investigation boston properties is doing may want to make our engineers take a closer look but now we are expecting it to be a standard buidling maintenance item. the cracked pieces of glass were discovered on the 19th and 21st of february. in a statement the building owner boston properties says "we acted immediately to retain top glass safety consultants cause of these isatentative steps."no determination on the cause but city officials say they will continue to monitor the building owners investigation

(robin) in the south bay... police have arrested the man they say attacked a woman on the stevens creek trail in mountain view. 29 year old michael adonis was arrested at a home on santa clara avenue. the victim says he introduced himself as "jerry"... before he attacked her last week. officers say they were responding to a separate incident when they noticed bite marks on his hands consistent with what the victim told police...she said she bit him in an effort to get away. police say they also found the clothes the victim told police he was

wearing. the victim was treated for serious injuries to her face, but is expected to be ok. (robin) a woman is dead after police say she lost control of her car and crashed on highway 101. it happened saturday afternoon just south of the central san rafael exit. police say she lost control and drifted into the center divider...and then back across all northbound lanes before hitting a guard rail. the woman, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital where she died. police belive rain may be a factor in the crash. a passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries. his former girlfriend 22 year old kyra sunshine scarlet who was buried in a landslide at san francisco's fort funston beach more than a week ago.sot gan says that kyra, her friend, and her dog were trying to avoid the high tide when the landslide occured. the two and the dog were trapped in the mud. kyra's friend and her dog were saved but she was never found. the search for her remains have been called off with an assumption by officials that her body was swept out to sea. sot oc: you'd never be bored

(robin) a drop-off site for debris will be available today for residents in sonoma county who are cleaning up after the recent storms. the service is intended only for waste originating from the flood, and those using it will be asked to show i-d or proof they live in the flood- affected community. residents are asked not to mix hazardous and toxic waste with other flood debris. officials are planning to collect toxic materials...that information will be shared on the sonoma county emergency planning website. residents are asked to no leave debris at unattended sites or in public areas. reopened just before 2:30 saturday afternoon. the east bound side was also closed for a short time after heavy rain flooded the nearby novato caltrans officials say if the bay area experiences another round of sustained heavy rain and flooding, the highway may have to be closed again.
